Come aboard the flight route of my life:
-
I’m Palestinian-Canadian...and also Lebanese...and Cypriot.
-
I grew up attending American international schools in sunny Athens, then cloudy London
-
Studied International Relations at Tufts University in freezing cold Boston
-
Spent a semester reconnecting with my roots at Birzeit University near beautiful Ramallah and at the Hebrew University in majestic Jerusalem
-
Lived six dizzying years in NYC, working first in management consulting and then foreign policy before doing my MA in Speech and Interpersonal Communication at New York University
-
While in NYC, I trained as an actor with the great Mary Boyer at the T. Schreiber Studio, launched my acting career, co-founded an award-winning Arab-American theater company and performed off-Broadway in the city that never sleeps
-
I hopped over to London to take courses, from screen acting to Shakespeare at RADA (and I am still continuously training)
-
Then, I met the love of my life, packed my bags and moved to bustling Beirut, where I performed in English and Arabic, wrote and produced my first play at the Monnot Theatre, and became a communications coach and professor at the American University of Beirut and the Lebanese American University
-
(We interrupt your inflight entertainment as at this point in the route Afaf paused a few years to bring 3 humans into this world.)
-
(OK, now she's back...)
-
I spent four years in lively Dubai, where I acted in one film, four corporate videos, six plays, eight commercials, twelve corporate dramas; won four acting awards; and coached hundreds of professionals in communication and leadership skills
-
Next, I moved back to Athens with my husband and children, went a little nuts under lockdown homeschooling them (only the kids), set up a home recording studio, and launched my voiceover business.
-
Finally, back to Dubai with a spanking new recording studio where I voice corporate, commercial, and animation projects.
-
Phew! Moving around has been challenging, but my life is so much richer mainly because of the amazing people I’ve met and worked with along the way.
-
As a result of these adventures, I speak English, Arabic, Greek; get by in French and Hebrew. I can flip accents and dialects on command, and can comfortably connect with clients all over the world.
-
Next stop... stay tuned!
The buzz and thrill of being in the zone
on stage, screen, or behind the mic…
The magic of a message moving an audience
to laugh, cry, think, or act…
Helping people deliver their story with impact…
this is a joy for me.
